First Sea Dive in the Indian Ocean
As we all sat huddled on the rubber duck, a few seconds from our first sea dive, the exhileration and excitement were eminent with the huge grins on all of our faces. We put our regs in place and tightly gripped our weightbelts and masks to our bodies. Our skipper started the countdown, 3.....2.....1.... we all fell backwards into the water, landing with huge splashes as all our gear hit the warm Indian Ocean. It was the perfect day for a dive, clear blue skies, not a lot of swell, we were about to have our first under water breathing experience (minus the pool dives, those don't really count) We signalled that we were okay, and began our descent. As the clear blue liquid of the Indian Ocean surrounded me, I was met with complete silence, apart from the steady controlled breaths of the other divers around me, I was so excited that my breathing was anything but steady and controlled, but as I got accoustommed to this amazing underwater world I started to calm down and relish this amazing experience. As we got to our dive site we heard the metallic sound of metal being hit on metal, and at Guinjata this is the signal that there is something interesting nearby, I looked up, and just above me was a magnificent Whale Shark, all its dots luminescent in the sunlight, it looked like somebody had thrown a blanket over it with holes cut in it and all the light was escaping out of these timy holes sending out millions of rays of light. My dive master signalled to me "OK?" i signalled back "double OK." This was my first taste of diving, and already I was hooked, this was the first dive of the many that I would experience, it was my first encounter with the EAC man and it was awesome !!!!
